(More customer reviews)I have been in the cabinet making industry for over 15 years and I have purchased almost every kind of tape there is on the market including all of the Stanley's, Lufkin, etc. I have not been happy with most tapes due to: pre-mature tape cracking, locking device breakage, the tape will not re-coil all of the way, and inconsistent or messy measurement markings (sometimes you have to pull the tape out a ways to check for line bleeding). The Irwin has lasted the longest out of all of the tapes and has clear, consistent markings on the top and bottom (which comes in handy for my line of work). The graphite on the bottom of the tape also makes it easy to mark for studs on drywall. The one downfall is the weight, however, I have dropped it more than a few times and the casing did not crack or break as it is constructed out of a solid metal-like plate. The standout is not as good as the Fat Max but depending on what you are doing, it gets the job done.
