(More customer reviews)I work in a machine shop and although we use Mitutoyo micrometers for exact measurements of small parts, these Starrett 6" calipers works very well for all the other stuff. The caliper features auto on/off which saves battery, has a Zero button and can convert mm/SAE. I have never noticed it sliding open by itself as with this other review. The slide on my caliper is actually very tight. And it also has a tensioning screw on the back, so you can adjust the tension or lock it in place. Good calipers for my job. Pricey, but I didn't have to pay for them anyways.
