(More customer reviews)I bought this because I wanted to use my router to cut perfect circles in 3/4" MDF. I needed to cut a 9" circle, and I did not realize until I opened the tool at home that it cannot cut circles under 11". I chalked that up to poor planning on my part and put the tool back on the shelf in my garage.
A few months later, I needed to rout channels along the edges of 1/2" MDF for a cupcake tower project for my wife. The channels needed to be fairly precise: 1/4" deep and 5/16" inch wide. I was not able to achieve consistent routs with this tool. Because of it's lack of heft and the flex inherent to the plastic construction, the tool made my router unstable to work with.
Rather than compromise the quality of my work, I bit the bullet and ordered the Bench Dog ProTop Contractor Benchtop Router Table from Amazon. I had hoped to avoid spending nearly $300 on a router table, but the lack of a good table was making my $200 router (Dewalt DW618) an expensive paperweight. I wish I had simply budgeted for the table all along. I spent some time learning to set up the table, but once I did, it worked exceptionally well.
