IRWIN Strait-Line 2035107 96-Inch Box Beam Level Review

I bought the IRWIN 48" level to replace my old Levelution(that I ran over with the forklift) because Irwin must have bought out the original company. I've been doing construction for 25 years and had many levels wood and aluminum and none of them would ever stay true. The whole concept of being able to adjust my own level is by far the best idea I've heard of in a long time. Mine was not dead on when I got it but after a few minute adjustments with an allen wrench and a phillips screw driver, I had it (to use a technical construction term)"balls on". AND haven't had to touch it since. So hopefully when I run over this one, I'll run out and buy another. Oh, another carpenter I know bought a Stabila last year about the same time as I ran over the Levelution because "you can't trust an adjustable level" and now has only one plumb vial that you can trust and comes to get my Irwin when he needs to read level.

Protractor and Saw Guide Review

Protractor and Saw Guide

I just finished replacing my stairs and this tool was incredibly useful. i didn't actually use it to get angular measurements but after i scribed lines from my stair jig (up to 2 degrees off of square) i was able to set the protractor guide to that angle and simply make my cut. this was way faster than getting a straight edge set up, clamping it, then cutting.
i do have a few issues that made it fall short of 5 stars. first, the rivets connecting the protractor to the guide are exposed on the bottom and rub against your material leaving scratches. i just covered these with painters tape for a quick fix. also the setting mechanism is a wing nut on the underside of the tool. it would have been made for much easier access if this were mounted on the top for adjustment rather than having to reach under the thing.
all in all i highly recommend this tool.
