The tape operates smoothly, and the lock holds the tape well, also the fluted rubber on the outside makes holding it easy even with wet hands. So for people who want to measure a 2x4 and get 1.5x3.5 and not 3.81x8.89, this is the tape for you. Again, go into a lumber store and ask where the 5.08x10.16 are and they will probably show you the door.
