However I am pleased to say that I was quite impressed with these calipers. They truly are no Starret, but I have no question about their accuracy - they agree perfectly with the planer we have at work.
I like the little extra stopper thingy - it has a small thumbscrew on it that allows you to set the calipers to the desired dimension with absolute accuracy. Much better than trying to nudge it a fraction of an inch with your finger.
My only problem with these is that there were still some rough machine markings on various edges, none of the edges that mattered, but it did look a little unfinished. Also when you first get them, you may want to pull them apart (easy to do with little flat blade screwdriver), wash them with warm soapy water, then use a light machine oil on them to get the action nice and smooth. There were little metal particles left over from the manufacturing process that really made the slide feel terrible at first. Once done, they feel great.
So a great buy if you want some simple calipers and don't mind pulling them apart.
