(More customer reviews)I had high hopes for this measure and will continue to use it. However, you have to pull it out to 3 feet or more before it calibrates and gives you accurate measures. The push button switches are easy to push and mess up what you are doing. I would suggest switches instead of micro-switches as a cure. It is too easy for the micro-switches on the side of the measure to get pushed while you are measuring. Switches would be easy to tell what side of the measure you are really on and less likely to get accidentally pushed. KISS(Keep It Simple Stupid) would make this device very valuable.
The tape itself is excellent and easy to read. The digital side does not correspond well to the tape side. CM(metric) to me is useless. I have a device that does this better. It is variable wrench that lists the metric on one side and the inches on the other. It tells me exactly what socket I need. The switches need to be changed to something better.
There is also a switch between the front of the measure and the back of the device which is a bit confusing. You can measure something with the tape measure itself as part of the measure. Good idea poorly implemented. Again the switches are the villain here.
When it is good it is very good(thus the two stars). When it is bad it is simply useless and there are cheaper measures out there. I think better labeling of the device features would probably help the confusion factor a lot. I really think potentially this could be in every tool box in America. If only the managers instead of the accountants had more say in its faulty features this device would really take off. I have never liked tape measures simply because the end cap on the tape is subject to movement and making things less accurate when you are measuring to cut things like wood. A carpenter measure is much better. A simple nut/bolt arrangement to keep it from moving would make tape measures a lot more accurate on small measures. Instead they use a rivet that allows movement on the measures. This is no worse or better than any other measure. The idea is very good. The application is not.
